Tips for Travelling Abroad - Travel Checklists for Travellers

Although most trips abroad are trouble free, being prepared will
go a long way to avoiding the possibility of serious trouble. If
you are travelling abroad here are some of things you need to do
to make your trip easier:

1. Check the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) Travel Advice
(call 0845 850 2829) for Public Announcements or Travel Warnings
for the countries you plan to visit. Public Announcements
provide fast-breaking information about relatively short-term
conditions that may pose risks to the security of travellers.

2. Get a good guidebook and get to know your destination.
Familiarize yourself with local laws and customs of the
countries to which you are travelling. While in a foreign
country, you are subject to that country’s laws. Learn about the
countries that you plan to visit. Before departing, take the
time to do some research about the people and their culture, and
any problems that the country is experiencing that may affect
your travel plans.

3. Get travel insurance and check that the cover is appropriate
and check what vaccinations you need 2 months before you travel.
Also, consider whether you need to take extra health
precautions. Make sure your insurance covers your emergency
medical needs (including medical evacuation) while you are
overseas.

4. Take enough money for your trip and some back-up funds such
as traveller’s cheques, sterling or US dollars.

5. To avoid being a target of crime, try not to wear conspicuous
clothing and expensive jewellery and do not carry excessive
amounts of money or unnecessary credit cards.

6. While abroad, avoid using illicit drugs or drinking excessive
amounts of alcoholic beverages, and associating with people who
do.

7. In order to avoid violating local laws, deal only with
authorized agents when you exchange money or purchase art or
antiques.

8. If your travel involves passage on airlines with which you
are unfamiliar, you may wish to check their safety and
reliability with a reputable travel agent.

9. Do not leave your luggage unattended in public areas and do
not accept packages from strangers.

10. Ensure you have a valid passport that is in good condition
and the necessary visas, if required.

11. Make several copies of your passport, insurance policy plus
24-hour emergency number, and ticket details. Leave these
copies, your itinerary and contact details with family and
friends. Carry the other copies with you in a separate place
from your passport. This will facilitate replacement if your
passport is lost or stolen.

12. Ensure that your travel organiser or travel agent can
provide sufficient evidence of security for the refunding and
repatriation of consumers in the event of insolvency. This
security must be in place by one of several Financial Protection
Organisations.

13. Leave a copy of your itinerary with family or friends at
home so that you can be contacted in case of an emergency.

Basic Steps Toward a New Language

I thought I was unique, but the more folks I talked with, the more I realized that many people started just like I did. When I first got into my online business, I knew nothing about computer programming. I figured that I must be the only one in online marketing with such undeveloped computer skills. It turns out, there are many of you that started just like me.

No matter where we start, however, computer skills are essential in the online world. More and more frequently, programming knowledge is not only helpful, but required. It’s just not business-smart to pay someone else to make every single change on your website.

Even if you are a programming newbie, all is not lost. You probably already know, for instance, that a huge amount of website programming is done in HTML (HyperText Markup Language). HTML was designed so that the ‘average’ website owner could create and edit content easily and quickly. If you don’t know what HTML looks like, get a glance by going to your favorite website. In the menu at the top of the screen click View and then click Source. Theoretically, this will give you the HTML code for the page you are viewing. There is an amazing amount of functionality involved with HTML coding. With knowledge of just a few commands, you can make a huge number of formatting and esthetic changes to your web page. With just a little bit more knowledge of the basic commands, you can enact very detailed adjustments to your site.

Let me give you a few examples that you may already know. When you use the command …, all text that replaces the ‘…’ will be emboldened. With … you can probably guess that the enclosed text will be centered. If you want a line break, use the command at the end of your sentence.

As I said, you probably already know those commands, but there are many that are just as easy and useful that you may not know. Just a little bit of research into the standard HTML commands can give you a world of knowledge in this user-friendly programming language.

Whether you have to completely redo your website or just want to make a few choice format changes, basic HTML knowledge is invaluable. Learning a few of the commands can give you a significant advantage over your competition, not to mention saving you money through do-it-yourself programming work.

When you’re ready, check out how much HTML you can learn in just one hour. http://www.build-passive-income.com/cmd.php?ad=127595

Remember, be good to yourself and never underestimate the power associated with the intensity of your passion.

Hydro Energy for the Home

Can I really use hydro energy to power my home?

There are really very few people who would be able to take advantage of hydropower in their homes. A small stream simply isn’t going to be big enough to power even a micro hydro energy system but if you happen to be one of the very lucky few who have a reasonable size stream or waterway of any sort running through your land then hydro power is an excellent form of power and you should consider looking into it. It has one big advantage over any other sort of renewable energy you may be considering for your home. It will create power 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The wind may stop blowing and the sun might stop shining but the water will always keep flowing. You can get hold of micro hydro turbines that will work with as little as 2 feet of water drop but still may provide you with enough power for the whole year.

Cover all your bases with wind and solar.

Combining this with a turbine and solar energy and you could probably power your neighbor’s houses too. Get a grid tie system which will enable you to buy energy from the grid and sell it back to the grid as well; you could be making a small profit as well as becoming completely energy self sufficient and doing your bit to beat global warming.

Finding a hydropower solution for your home.

There are fewer companies that deal with selling and fitting hydropower units simply because there is much less demand for it, but shop around you will be able to find one eventually. Find solar and wind energy companies and ask them if they do micro hydro generators as well; even if they don’t supply them themselves they may be able to put you in touch with a company who does. Calculate the drop you could get from the water as well as the average water flow so you can give them your measurements and they will be able to tell you what system is required and if it’s a viable solution, and if you find the right company they will probably come out and work that out for you.

Canyon Industries.

Canyon Industries Inc are manufacturers of micro hydro generators and are worth considering if you are serious about hydropower. You can visit their site at www.canyonindustriesinc.com and contact them for further information as well as for guidance on your waterflow.

Weight Loss - It’s NOT about the numbers - It’s your Approach!

Today obesity, diabetes and heart disease runs through us at
epidemic levels, Why? The answer lies not in the thousands of
different kinds of diet, weight loss and workout programs
offered, the answer lies in the approach. But, no one wants to
talk about that. Do you ever wonder why that is?

Do we not want to know, or could it have something to do with
the doctor’s and those in the fitness industry not wanting to
explain the best approach to us? Maybe they don’t even know the
right way themselves? Deep down we want and need too know. Why
do I say this? Twenty years of managing health clubs and dealing
with doctor’s tells me, that if they told you this, then there
may be a chance you would not need them. Sounds crazy doesn’t
it. But, true!

Quote:

“While exercise and eating guidelines are based on good
scientific principles, they do not go along with human nature or
common sense. Recent history is telling us this; we are better
off with encouraging the mediocre people who are willing to
include exercise in their daily lives, rather than cramming
guidelines down throats that are far beyond the reach of the
majority of people. In the end, keeping things simple combined
with support usually works better.” Greg Ryan From his e-book:
“Just MOVE it,” www.resolutions.bz

Over the years most of us who are out of shape and want to lose
a few pounds and feel a little better about ourselves, developed
many different behaviors toward exercise and food. Some are good
ones, but most are just barriers we have built in our minds. I
guess you could also chalk it up to pure laziness.

However, the bottom line is we are going to continue down the
path of destruction until someone comes up with a plan to help
people deal with the reasons behind such behaviors.

No pill will do it long term, no eight minute ab’s routine will
concur the patterns; the only thing it will take is
introspection. But, do we want to hear that? Maybe, that is just
too painful to even think about right now.

Do you mean I will have to take a good long look at myself?
Maybe so. At the end of the day, you are going to have to ask
yourself, “Do I deal with it now or do I deal with the
consequences later? Because that’s really want it comes down to.
Face the truth on your terms today, or face the reality on
life’s terms down the road in a hospital bed.

I chose to deal with it now.

So where is the magic? It’s not in the pills or programs being
fed to us today and it’s also not found so much in the numbers
on an exercise chart, the amount of weight you lift, or the
miles on a treadmill.

Our success lies in: •How willing are you to deal with the roots
of the unwanted behaviors? •Figuring out what truly motivates
us? •Developing a great support system for us personally?
•Figure out the emotions behind the food. •Simplifying the
workout program to fit your lifestyle.

Do we really want to continue to put a bandage on bleeding
artery? Or do we get serious and do some mental surgery that
takes care of the weight problem once in for all.

I say go for it! What do you have to lose except a few pounds?

To your success,

How to Get Free Rent

You can get free rent through one of three methods:

1) Manage an apartment.
2) As a building caretaker.
3) House-sitting.

Opportunities to get free rent by all three of these methods may be found simply by checking the classified advertising section of newspapers in the area you wish to live in. Most of the opportunities will be listed under “Help Wanted”.

Managing apartments consists of collecting rents, showing vacancies, making minor repairs such as leaky faucets, replacing light bulbs - and taking care of the grounds. Some units even pay a small salary - depending on the size of the complex. In a very large complex there is usually a separate maintenance man and/or caretaker. The manager only handles rent collecting and showing the vacant units.
These positions normally pay only a token salary along with free rent.

House-sitting is much more attractive to the average person. The only drawback is that most opportunities are for short terms, 3 months to a year. However, if you only want to locate to an area for a short period of time, this is the way to do it and live rent-free. Many people would rather have someone occupy their home during their absence than have it sit empty. You would be expected to maintain the premises and treat it “better” than as if it were your own.

Pets Can Provide Comfort To The Depressed

They’re cute, they’re cuddly and they can be furry. Sometimes they walk on four legs, sometimes on two. They have funny names. They’re pets. And they are great to have around. And while they are great to have in general, they are even better when you suffer from depression.

Pets are able to provide comfort and unconditional love. They are cute and it can be fun to just watch them play, or to play with them. Especially if you have kids, pets are great to have around. Dogs, cats, birds, even small animals, are a lot of fun to have around. They also give you focus points that will take your mind off of other things. More importantly, it prevents you from feeling as alone. Instead of coming home to an empty house, the house will have activity in it when you arrive. If you have a dog, you will have something to run up to you when you come home. It also gives you something to take care of, a way to have something that you can love no matter what.

Because pets are widely available and there are many different types to choose from, you should think about how much space you have and what kinds of pets you have had in the past. If it is your first pet, or you need a pet that will not miss you if you are home late, then a pocket pet (gerbil, hamster or mouse - yes, I said mouse. They are very cute and quite good pets) would probably fit in better.

Acne Nutrition Tips

Acne Nutrition Tips - Studies show that diet does not play a role in either the cause or the treatment of acne. However, what is recommended for acne preventative care is this: what is best for your body is best for your skin, especially since your skin is the largest organ of your body. So here are healthy vitamins, minerals and other supplements that have been known and recommended to prevent and help conquer acne breakouts:

Acne Nutrition 1: Vitamin A or Retinol is found not only in some cosmetic creams but also in liver, fish oils and dairy products. Produced by plants, this vitamin is also known as called Beta-carotene, and is found in yellowish-orange fruits and vegetable; yams, cantaloupe, carrots apricots, and in green vegetables like spinach, kale and parsley. Beware that high doses of Vitamin A are toxic.

Acne Nutrition 2: Vitamin B Complex. These vitamins are found in leafy vegetables, fish, milk, eggs and whole grains and have many functions. For example, although B-2 can irritate acne, it can help alleviate stress. B-1, B-6 and B-12 are also known for proving stress relief. And B-3, in avocados, eggs, peanuts, lean meat and liver, reportedly reduces cholesterol level, has an anti-inflammatory effect on skin and improves your metabolism and circulation, improving acne in some studies.

Acne Nutrition 3: Vitamin C - A form of this vitamin, the C ester has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and has helped penetrate skin and prevent the return of acne. It is being tested for repairing damage to scar tissue from teen years.

Acne Nutrition 4: Vitamin E, in almonds, broccoli, peanuts, sunflower seeds, wheat germ and vegetable oils, has been said to help with scar tissue healing, but this is considered a myth by many healthcare professionals. Instead, researchers are considering that a form called tocotrienol (often referred to as high potency E or HPE) may carry antioxidant properties that may be able to aid the skin when ingested.

Acne Nutrition 5: L-Carnitine- this supplement is reported to help repair skin damage from acne for young and old.

Acne Nutrition 6: Zinc (found in eggs, mushrooms, nuts and whole grains) and selenium (a trace mineral in most soils and absorbed my a variety of vegetables) are known to improve the overall health of the body, including the skin.

In summary, a good quality brand name multivitamin will probably have the recommended vitamins and minerals that you need to help with acne prevention. Combine this with drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day and making good, healthy dietary food choices. For example, if you have had ill effects from eating a certain food before, be leery of it and make healthier food choices for yourself.

Are Expectations and Boundaries Clearly In Place?

Watching young children at play is, of course, entertaining. For the businessperson, watching young children at play can also be educational. Sometimes kids run amok; they can be aggressive, destructive, and unmanageable yet n other situations they are orderly, polite, and delightful. I don’t think the difference has anything to do with the way the planets are aligned. I think the difference is that, in the latter instance, parents and educators have established expectations and boundaries, they have communicated them clearly, and follow up to insure those expectations and boundaries are met. When youngsters know what is expected of them, what they may or may not do, most rise to the challenge. In a broad generalization, when expectations and boundaries have been established the children have an increased ability to learn and communicate, they become more productive and accomplished.

The reason this is educational for the businessperson is that the same holds through in every aspect of managing a business. It’s all about expectations and boundaries, communication and follow-through.

If we clearly communicate our expectations and boundaries to vendors, staff, and customers and then follow up with them to insure our expectations and boundaries are met, the business will not descend into chaos. It too will become more productive and accomplished. Quality of the work, customer satisfaction, and morale will be higher. These translate into a happier staff, higher quality of work performance, higher rates of staff and customer retention, and vendors who will bend over backwards to please you.

Now, I’m not suggesting that parents and educators or managers and supervisors should rule their domains like wardens running a prison exercise yard. I’m advocating treating people with respect, understanding, acknowledging their intelligence and humanity. Most will rise to the occasion. If you are experiencing difficulty in managing any aspect of your business where people are involved, before going off on a rampage, first look at the expectations you have communicated and the boundaries you have established and see whether they need to be more clearly defined.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Web Hosting Plan

Does your web hosting plan really matter? This is a question
pondered by many people starting out in internet marketing.
Unfortunately, not much thought is put into selecting a web
hosting plan as part of the website development process. Many
people don’t even review hosting plans at all, they just trust
their web designer or web developer to choose a web hosting plan
for them because they consider it a minor factor that doesn’t
matter too much.

In reality, a web hosting plan is one of those things that
doesn’t really matter and doesn’t come to attention unless there
is a problem with it. So, if you get lucky and incidentally get a
decent web hosting plan without considering your options, you
probably don’t think choosing a web hosting plan is a very
important aspect of website development. However, if you’ve had
an inadequate web hosting plan, or you’ve been burned by a fly-
by-night web hosting company, you may view the selection of a web
hosting plan in a different light.

The main things to consider when choosing a web hosting plan are:

1. Security

2. Speed

3. Space

4. Email capabilities

5. Reports

6. Administrative functions

7. Reliability

8. Support

9. Extra features

10. Cost

Security

The security features of a web hosting plan’s servers is
important to website development, especially if your website will
be an ecommerce website through which customer payments or
processed, or if customers will be transmitting personal
information to you via your website. Without a secure server,
customers may be hesitant to transmit personal and financial
information through your website. Encryption capabilities and the
ability to set up a dedicated secure server for your company are
security features you should look for in your web hosting plan.

Speed

The speed at which your website loads is very significant in e-
business. When people visit your website, if it takes more than a
few seconds for the site to load they will get impatient and move
on, forgetting your website altogether. When you evaluate a web
hosting plan, be sure to ask the web host what type of internet
connection they use to ensure that it is a high-speed connection.

Space

The space that your web hosting plan allows for your website and
the bandwidth that is available for your use matters. In most
cases, any web hosting plan provides adequate space for a
standard website, but make sure that you can increase the space
provided for your web hosting plan if necessary as your website
evolves. Bandwidth restrictions can hinder the ability of website
visitors to download or upload data.

Email Capabilities

Email capabilities should be included in every web hosting plan.
The number of email addresses provided, the ability to use email
aliases, and the ability to set up autoresponders are things to
be considered. Also, restrictions on the size of files that can
be sent and received or stored on the email server can be of
importance.

Reports

Access to server logs and other reports regarding website
activity should be standard features of a web hosting plan. Using
such reports aids in your marketing efforts as you can tell where
your traffic is coming from and which marketing mediums are
producing results. You can also determine which of your web pages
of most popular and which ones are not being visited.

Administrative Functions

Sometimes a web developer serves as a webmaster, but for the most
part, a website owner needs to be able to quickly and easily make
changes to the website. This is accomplished through the
administrative features of a web hosting plan, generally on
online accessible control panel.

Reliability

The reliability of the company that provides your web hosting
plan is crucial. The length of time they have been in business,
their percent of uptime, and their backup and data retrieval
practices play a big part in whether or not your web hosting plan
is reliable. Downtime results in lost business, so reliability is
a critical consideration.

Support

Technical support is something that should definitely be a part
of a web hosting plan. Different web hosts will have different
levels of support with some offering person-to-person phone
support while others respond to email or online requests. Some
provide 24 hour technical support and others don’t. Find out
about the quality and convenience of technical support that is
provided before selecting a web hosting plan.

Extra Features

There are many standard features that should be provided in a web
hosting plan, then there are options that may cost extra. A full-
service web hosting plan may cost a bit more than limited plans,
but may be worth it. Some of the features to look for include FTP
access capabilities for the purpose of sharing files and support
for software you may use for your website.

Cost

Of course cost is important when choosing a web hosting plan;
however, it is not the most important consideration. Sometimes
you really do get what you pay for. So, cost should be factored
into your decision but going with the cheapest web hosting plan
is not always the best idea. Also, free web hosting plans are
usually not worth having.
